Modern Living with Classic Roots

Planning, interior design, and styling for a 120 sqm apartment in Arnona, Jerusalem, blending modern living with classic elegance through a comprehensive renovation.

The homeowners have lived in this apartment for many years, dating back to its early days as a small and modest space.
Their goal was to experience a higher quality of living while thoughtfully integrating personal items collected over the years—allowing them to become a natural and elegant part of the new interior.

The apartment underwent a full, ground-up renovation. As part of the new planning, the central living area was opened up to create a space that feels both open and intimate, connecting the living room, kitchen, and dining area into a cohesive whole.

A portion of the former enclosed service balcony was transformed into a striking bathroom, defined by deep sea-blue tones and warm brass accents.
Throughout the apartment, material choices are bold yet refined, creating a clear design statement while maintaining balance, elegance, and timeless comfort.

Living room and kitchen

The kitchen space opens partially towards the living room and thus makes the shared space feel large and open (but still keep the work areas in the kitchen hidden).

The entrance to the house and the view to the kitchen

From the entrance to the house and all along the length of the kitchen, we placed a brass and glass display case, which accompanies those entering the house and displays various items collected in the family over the years.
The materiality of the showcase continues to the kitchen cabinets, thus turning the kitchen into an elegant piece of furniture that blends in harmoniously.

The kitchen

The owner of the house is very old (the golden age 💛), she wanted the activity in the kitchen to be as comfortable as possible and with as little unnecessary movement as possible.
The kitchen was designed to be compact and functional and fit specifically for her, so that she can cook for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kitchen - materiality

The materials we chose for the design are bold, luxurious and elegant – with a distinct design statement.
Brass finish for all facades and a combination of fine onyx marble that climbs the walls (even the air conditioning vents are cut into it)

The dining area

A wasted space added to the apartment as part of the TMA 38 project, became a designated space for a formal and extra long dining area used for entertaining.
As part of the new planning, we moved the large dining area from the living room to the space added to the apartment, thereby enlarging the living room and the kitchen.

The formal dining area seen from the living room.
A dedicated, elegant and inviting space for meals for family and friends.

Master Bedroom

The owner’s bedroom is elegant and calm. The headboard we made in carpentry integrates with the existing furniture of the home owners and creates a harmonious feeling.

Constraints and creative solutions

The bathroom has two large windows – to deal with them and make them part of the design, we changed the profile to a shade that blends in with the wall covering and integrated a mirror in a “dry-keep” type window. The sink cabinet is placed just below the mirror.

The bathroom

Half of a long old-fashioned service balcony was closed, sealed and turned into a mesmerizing bathroom in shades of blue and red gold.
