The Ultimate Man Cave

A basement design project that reimagines an underused space as a place for enjoyment, hosting, and atmosphere—planned as a distinct entertainment environment within the home.

This basement was redesigned as a dedicated entertainment space within the home.
Through precise planning and a clear concept, the layout integrates a gaming area, a home theater, and a fully designed bar—creating an atmosphere of going out while staying in.

The design balances experience and function, allowing the space to serve both hosting and everyday enjoyment.
The result is a distinct, comfortable environment that demonstrates how an underused basement can become an integral and active part of the home.

Entrance

The alcohol bar welcomes us to the right of the entrance and serves as the “first stop” in our transition from the “normal” house to the new world we created in the basement.

The second station

After a few drinks at the bar, move to the sitting and gaming lounge.
Here you can continue the hospitality experience on the couch  and enjoy nostalgic video games.

Home cinema

An 85″ screen and an advanced surround system with speakers sunk into the ceiling are located in front of the large couch and serve as a perfect “home sinema”.
And of course there is a PlayStation system here that is secretly connected to the huge screen and enhances the entertainment experience.

Design language - materials

The wall that immediately stands out when you enter the space is a wall in the corner bordered by columns on both sides. These walls are covered with tiles that look like handmade bricks, in 6 shades. The cladding was chosen so that it would be part of the palette of the basement’s shades, which are characterized by dark and smoky colors, with bursts of color and metals.

Alcohol bar

The entire project began with the desire to establish a large and spacious alcohol bar, which includes seating and serving around it.
The carpentry work was challenging, as it was also necessary to incorporate a sort of ‘kitchenette’ (sink, electrical appliances, water and drainage pipes and a work surface).

Bathroom

Large concrete and rust looking tiles were used as the basis for the design palette of the room.
In order to strengthen the industrial look, all fittings were made of black iron with a Gun Metal finish and only the faucet of the bathroom sink received a “different” treatment.

The Cave

The owners of the property wanted to take a space that was underutilized and turn it into something else. The man had a childhood dream of a fun and nostalgic space that would feel like staying in a cave.
The space is designed like a ‘bubble’ in the house, and it is very different in terms of design style from the rest of the house, both from the interior space of the upper floors and from the exterior space of the house.
